What I like about Radha

Radha is love, compassion, and kindness. She is no one but Lakshmi who lived with Vishnu in all the previous avatars.

At the starting of Dwarpar Yug Radha got cursed to go on earth as a human. She was born in Barsana as Vrishban and Kirtida’s daughter. Out of the deep love for her, Krishna also took the human avatar to accompany her.  As a human, Radha had to overcome the drawbacks of human nature- fear, anger, attraction, jealousy, and greed. Krishna helped her overcome them and helped her become full of love and kindness as she was before. Together, they taught the world what is love.

Love is a set of emotions, behaviors, passion, trust, happiness, and care.

This is what Radha does, just not with Krishna, with everyone. What I like about Radha is that she cares for everyone, she even cares for the people who don’t like her that’s why she is called the goddess of love. An example is about Saambh- Saambh was the son of Krishna and Jambhvati. He had the ansh of Shiva. When he was born itself, he was destined to destroy Dwarka. He tried in several ways to kill Radha but nothing happened to her, but when Saambh got cursed Radha helped him recover from it. Through all this also Radha still loved him. Even when he got cursed by Sage Durvasa to become a lady, Radha helped him recover it.

Another example is when Radha and Krishna were about to get married just amid that, Ugrapadh (Vrishban’s friend) asked Vrishban to give the promise he had given years ago to him to return for marrying his son Ayan with Radha. Vrishban wouldn’t let his daughter marry the person she didn’t like. So he was ready to take vanvas for breaking his promise to Ugrapadh. When Radha heard about this, she was dejected. She loved her parents so much that she was ready to marry Ugrapadh’s son Ayan. Together Krishna and Radha enacted in such a way that Vrishban himself was forced to break the marriage. When Kirtida and Vrishban later came to know this, they understood that their daughter was indeed special.

Radha’s other name is also Vrinda, which is why Vrindavan was named Vrindavan. Radha has done so many sacrifices in her human avatar and we should learn from her and care for others as she did for everyone.
