Shiva's Presence

 Shiva’s Presence

A week ago my family and I visited Jabalpur which is in MP. We saw many different attractions like Dhuadaar waterfall, Bedaghat boat ride, 64 Yogini temple, Jain mandir, balancing rock, but one thing that I liked the most was the Shiva statue.

It is the tallest Shiva statue in the world which was built in the year 2004 and was made available for the public, tourists, and devotees in 2006. The Shiva statue is blue in color, it has a moon on his head, his snake, Vasuki around his neck, and his trident besides him. Kachnar was a newly formed city and it was chosen as the place where the statue of Lord Shiva, almost 76 feet in height, would be commissioned. The statue has 12 Shiva lingams from all the major Shiva temples in the country. We felt fortunate to get a chance to see it.

In Jabalpur, we also went to Bedaghat where we did a boat ride and we saw white marble rocks all around. It is a stretch of 8km north and south where marble rocks exist. Beyond this stretch, normal black rocks are seen. In the serene environment of the marble city, we saw numerous Shiva Lingams and Nandi statues on the banks of Narmada. As per the epics, these were built by Rani Durgavati, the ruler of the city and earlier generations to worship Lord Shiva. Rani Durgavati herself was a worshipper of Mata Parvati and she defeated Baz Bahadur of Mandu. However, she was killed in a battle to protect her homeland against Akbar's troops.

Earlier this year we visited Mahakaleshwar and Omkareshwar -the 2 other Jyotirlingas in MP. I was so pleased to see Shiva's presence in each and every part of MP, from Maheshwar to Jabalpur.

  3. To be into spirituality at such young age is blessing of Shree Shiva himself. Narmada Mayi is daughter of Shiva himself. And you witnessed her. She is there in physical as well as divine form. It is said stones in Narmada are as holy as shaligram. Lakhs of saints and yogis are sitting kamamdalu to kamamdalu on banks of Narmada Mayi in Astral form for thousands of years.
